Remi Goode is a trained classical guitarist and choral singer turned alternative folk/pop singer-songwriter. When she first decided to put her voice and guitar together and write original music, she quickly developed a style that highlights her careful classical sensibilities, pure vocal quality, and the distinctive sound of a nylon-string guitar. With an affinity for small arrangements and modest production, Remi’s highest priority is lyricism. She writes with blunt honesty and introspection, searching for the root of the dynamics within a relationship or a deeper understanding of her own self-conception. Although Remi’s analysis of herself and others is often pointed, her songs always contain a qualifying aspect of emotional ambiguity—an expression of both grief and acceptance at having to navigate a world that isn’t black or white.

    From a young age, Remi was greatly influenced by a handful of folk and alternative artists of the 80’s and 2000’s. Her music is harmonically reminiscent of Suzanne Vega, has the free, dynamic phrasing of Regina Spektor, and expresses emotional ambivalence similar to Sarah Harmer and Kathleen Edwards. In 2020, Remi began to work on overcoming her continued struggle with self-doubt about her ability to maintain a career as a singer-songwriter and decided to pursue music seriously. She graduated with concurrent bachelor’s degrees in music and art history from Arizona State University in 2022, where she studied with pioneering guitarist, JIJI, and worked in the art conservation lab at the ASU Art Museum. Even with a formal musical education behind her, Remi chooses to write entirely by ear in order to achieve one of her goals as a songwriter—to make the music she wants to hear.
