this year, I’m releasing my debut album. I’ve poured my heart into this project and It’s been several years in the making, but it will be yours
very soon.
Even though I’m an alternative folk/pop artist, I grew up as a classical guitarist along with my musical (and life) partner, Gabe. We’ve been collaborators for almost as long as we’ve been musicians, and we made this album together.
In 2024, we raised over $25,000 on kickstarter through the generosity of our friends, family, and fans to fund the successful release of our record!
A blurb about what this album means to me
My debut album is a collection of the songs I wrote while learning to consider myself a songwriter—my journey of exploration as an artist when I didn’t feel like one yet. This project represents both my strong sense of self and my many self-doubts, exploring the paradoxes I notice in myself and my relationships that are not easy to pin down. With each song, I make an effort to get to the truth about a dynamic or situation with a person in my life. Rather than choosing a side or coming to a singular conclusion, the lyrics tend to lean into contradiction and ambivalence. I hope that, as a songwriter, I'm able to show that we can find clarity and understanding while leaving some things unreconciled.
Just as this project embraces emotional dualities, it also captures the duality of my musical identity. Throughout the creation of the record, I wanted to find a range of folk-adjacent genres and sounds that felt honest to my artist self. Growing up as a classical guitarist, I bring classical styles and sensibilities into my music and mostly play nylon-string guitars. In recent years, playing with a full band has made me more comfortable with a bigger sound and heavier genres. My debut album highlights these musical aspects, balancing intimate, acoustic, folk-forward tracks that celebrate my classical background with full-band arrangements that push into new stylistic territories.
On the whole, this body of work represents the artist that I am now, and begins to set the tone for the artist I am becoming.
